Guidelines on unsolicited requests to become a Company Director

On 18 July 2023, CEA published guidance to members of the public who are approached to become Directors of Companies that they know little to nothing about.

The guidelines aim to educate members of the public by setting out the duties and responsibilities of a Director under the Companies Act 2014, the legal risks associated with a directorship and points to consider before accepting unsolicited requests to become a director.
